Position Summary

The Specialist – Urology at NMC Specialty Hospital in Dubai delivers comprehensive urological care, including pre- and post-operative management and procedures within their competence. This role involves inpatient and outpatient care, consultations, and adherence to Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations, and NMC Healthcare policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive urological care to patients in outpatient and inpatient settings, including pre- and post-operative care and procedures within competence.
• Conduct daily rounds for hospitalized patients and assume after-hours responsibility for surgical cases.
• Refer cases beyond skill or experience to specialists or consult with them as needed.
• Consult with anesthetists on the choice of anesthesia for surgical procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of all assigned cases.
• Participate in and contribute to in-service activities, including lectures, conferences, and rounds.
• Support Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to hospital bylaws, rules, regulations, and JCI standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and administrative matters.
• Demonstrate effective communication and dependability in fulfilling commitments.
• Follow international guidelines, DHA regulations, and JCI norms in patient care and professional duties.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Urologist.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved medical school with one year of internship and three years of residency.
• Certification by the American Board of Urology or Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years of practice as a urologist.
• Current licensure in the country of origin and a valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) license to practice as a specialist in Urology in Dubai, UAE.
• Excellent command of oral and written English; knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
• Thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with a focus on patient confidentiality.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with co-workers, superiors, patients, and families.
• Mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership.
