Position Summary

The Nurse Supervisor (Educator) at NMC Specialty Hospital in Dubai leads and supports the professional development of nursing staff while ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care. This role involves mentoring, training, and supervising nurses, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and serving as a subject matter expert in a specialized field, in alignment with UAE regulations and Joint Commission International (JCI) standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a learning culture among nurses, particularly in the specialized field of practice.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the interprofessional team, providing leadership in the specialized area.
  • Support and lead audits and data collection for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and benchmarking in the specialized field.
  • Collaborate with nurse educators to develop training programs and conduct training needs analyses.
  • Provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and families about health conditions, and offer emotional support.
  • Perform systematic patient assessments, reassessments, and collect pertinent health data.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
  • Develop and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patients, and their families.
  • Record vital signs, recognize and escalate abnormalities using the Early Warning System and American Heart Association emergency algorithms.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, or blood products, and monitor for side effects or reactions.
  • Provide wound care management and assist in invasive or non-invasive medical procedures as needed.
  • Facilitate safe patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical and technical skills, including competency in life support (e.g., Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation).
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including audits and incident reporting, to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Uphold infection prevention and control (IPC) standards, including strict hand hygiene, bare below the elbows, and environmental care.
  • Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (OSHMS), including reporting hazards and participating in training and drills.
  • Support and supervise student nurses, newly graduated nurses, and those undergoing cross-training or upskilling.
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults per UAE regulations.

Qualifications

  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse under the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
  • Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
  • Post-graduate specialist qualification, diploma, degree, or master’s in the specialty field.
  • Previous experience within the specialized field and completion of relevant competencies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
  • Willingness to work across departments when necessary.
  • Desirable: Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic.
