Position Summary

The Specialist – Internal Medicine at NMC Specialty Hospital in Dubai provides expert medical care to patients, performing diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services in accordance with the delineation of privileges. This role involves inpatient consultations, diagnostic interpretations, and participation in quality improvement and training programs, ensuring adherence to international guidelines and UAE regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform professional duties of an internist per approved delineation of privileges.
• Provide inpatient consultations for medical and other hospital services.
• Read and interpret EKGs and perform lung function studies as needed.
• Administer Executive Health Program examinations regularly.
• Order diagnostic laboratory and X-ray examinations, diagnose conditions, prescribe therapies, and implement preventive measures.
• Stay current on medical advancements by reviewing journals, textbooks, and participating in in-service training and physician conferences.
• Attend monthly Internal Medicine Service Division staff meetings and weekly rounds.
• Ensure compliance with infection control guidelines in all clinical areas.
• Maintain qualifications in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and stay updated on emergency techniques.
• Participate in Morbidity & Mortality conferences, peer reviews, and other in-service activities.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, DHA regulations, and Joint Commission International norms.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Medical Administrator or Medical Director.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved medical school with one year of internship and three years of residency.
• Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years of practice as an internist, including 2 years as a licensed specialist.
• Current licensure in the country of origin and a valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) license to practice Internal Medicine in Dubai, UAE.
• Thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with a focus on patient confidentiality.
• Excellent command of oral and written English; knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with co-workers, superiors, patients, and families.
• Mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership.
