Operating Room Circulator (RN) - Sutter, Santa Cruz

Description

Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Operating Room Circulator (Staff Nurse II). You will be the patient's primary advocate in the surgical suite, responsible for coordinating, assessing, and evaluating nursing care during the intra-operative phase. This role requires delivering holistic, individualized care while fostering collaborative relationships to ensure an optimal patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as the primary patient advocate and manager of the operating room environment.
• Perform comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments and verifications.
• Coordinate the surgical team and ensure the availability of all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintain a sterile field and strictly adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
• Manage all intraoperative documentation, including patient records, instrument counts, and specimen handling.
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and scrub personnel to ensure seamless care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of California.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant experience as a circulating nurse in an acute care setting.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of nursing theories, best practices, and patient safety protocols.
