Position Summary

The Staff Nurse II – Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit at California Pacific Medical Center is responsible for assessing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating nursing care in the MSICU. This role involves providing holistic, individualized care that incorporates psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors. The Staff Nurse II collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes while adhering to hospital policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for MSICU patients, ensuring holistic and individualized care.
  • Provide direct patient care, including patient/family education and coordination of transitions of care in a critical care setting.
  • Develop and coordinate care plans that incorporate psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams through timely and effective communication.
  • Document all relevant patient data accurately in medical records per hospital standards.
  • Use critical thinking to identify and solve routine or complex problems, ensuring patient safety and privacy of protected health information (PHI).
  • Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
  • Maintain clinical and professional competency through ongoing education and training.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety precautions, and applicable laws/regulations to promote an optimal patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license for California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience; neuro and CRRT experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing theories, concepts, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare industry standards, safety precautions, and patient care best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information to diverse audiences.
  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize patient care and assignments in a critical care environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
