Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner – ICU at California Pacific Medical Center works under the supervision of an intensivist to assess and manage the medical care of critically ill patients. This role involves collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to ensure continuity and coordination of care, adhering to hospital policies, industry standards, and the California Nurse Practice Act. The Nurse Practitioner engages in continuous professional development and promotes a quality, highly reliable patient experience. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is offered, and new graduates are welcome to apply (must take NP boards).

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and manage the medical care of ICU patients in collaboration with intensivists and the healthcare team.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical and psychological needs, to develop and revise care plans.
• Coordinate care with nursing staff, referring physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and quality.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote patient-centered care.
• Adhere to hospital policies, Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, and the California Nurse Practice Act.
• Document all relevant patient data accurately in medical records per hospital standards.
• Engage in continuous professional development and maintain required licensure and certifications.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care outcomes.
• Handle sensitive issues and manage conflicts effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Nurse Practitioner (NP) national certification; Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification within 1 year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience in Critical Care or Emergency Nursing preferred.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals to create an effective working climate.
