Position Summary

The Float Pool Licensed Vocational Nurse II at Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation provides nursing care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or physician across various clinical settings. This role involves integrating education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to implement patient care plans, distribute supplies, and perform equipment maintenance. The LVN II ensures patient safety and privacy while adhering to established standards, policies, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care under the supervision of an RN or physician, implementing patient care plans based on diagnosis in a timely manner.
• Perform basic nursing skills, including administering medications, treatments, and assisting with medical procedures.
• Support patient care by distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed.
• Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams through effective communication.
• Document patient care activities accurately in medical records per organizational standards.
• Use sound judgment and clinical skills to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines within standardized policies and procedures.
• Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
• Work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
• Adhere to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Vocational Nursing.
• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license for California.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum 1 year of recent relevant experience in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills, medical procedures, and equipment.
• Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information to diverse audiences.
• Well-developed time management and organizational skills to prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• General knowledge of computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
