Job Purpose / Objective

Responsible for professional services in Hematopathology section covering a wide range of laboratory functions and other fields of expertise as further specified in the duties and responsibilities of this job description. Exercise the highest possible standards of patient care according to clinical privileges and available resources.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

• Provide consultative services to physicians for interpretation and correlation of laboratory tests.
• Evaluate, update and develop new laboratory tests/techniques in the assigned Laboratory sections.
• Check and verify positive laboratory results before handling over to patient/physician.
• Encourage and participate in approved research projects according to established policy.
• Train and teach the Laboratory staff whenever necessary.
• Take responsibility for the results issued.
• Answer patient`s queries regarding the laboratory investigation.
• Participate in CME (Continuous Medical Education) of Laboratory Staff, Physician and other Staff as necessary.
• Assist the laboratory director in overseeing the daily operations of the labor check tests, by supervising, monitoring and ensuring that the overall operations are in accordance to the established policies and standards.
• Establish contacts with other recognized laboratories for exchange of information.
• Implement both internal and external Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs in the section.
• Coordinate with the Head of Department or Laboratory Director, all plans for the development/upgrade of the section that promotes research and develops procedures and techniques ensuring accuracy, precision and reliability of tests.
• Consult the Head of Department or Laboratory Director for matters concerning patient's special and critical results.
• Monitor quality laboratory services for all aspects of test performance, which includes the pre-analytic and post-analytic phases of testing.
• Ensure that the physical plant and environment condition of the laboratory are appropriate for the testing performed and provide a safe environment in which laboratory personnel are protected from microbial, physical, chemical and biological hazards.
• Coordinate with the Medical Staff on ensuring that the quality control and quality assurance, both internal and external, are established and maintained according to the laboratory standards.
• Participate in the laboratory process for the accreditation by an International Organization and contribute actively in assuring the continuity of the HMG program.
• Participate in the national and international medical meetings to keep in touch with the latest medical information.
• Provide patient and family education as per the need.
• Participate in, and lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
• Provide the highest attainable standard of medical care for his/her patients.
• Perform other applicable task and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
