Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide competent, compassionate, and individualized hygiene and basic nursing care. This role involves supporting a group of patients with age-specific competencies, including vital signs, hygiene, and activities of daily living (ADL). The CNA has access to Protected Health Information (PHI) as needed to perform their duties and ensures patient safety and privacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide competent, compassionate, and individualized hygiene and basic nursing care under RN or LVN supervision.
  • Assist with age-specific patient care, including vital signs, hygiene, and activities of daily living (ADL).
  • Support patient safety, comfort, and privacy while maintaining the confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Collaborate with the Patient Care Team to deliver high-quality care and foster positive patient relationships.
  • Document patient care activities accurately in medical records per hospital standards.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to new and changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain competencies required by the department.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety precautions (e.g., Infection Control, Electrical Safety, Disaster), and applicable regulations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a hospital, nursing school, or long-term care facility preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific patient care.
  • Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to think critically, set priorities, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Collaborative team member with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Working knowledge of established safety topics (e.g., Infection Control, Electrical Safety, Disaster).

Days of the Week: Variable, with every other weekend
