Employment Information

📍 Overview

  • BC Cancer is offering 3 part-time physician roles across three regional centres.
  • Locations: Vancouver, Surrey, and Abbotsford, BC.
  • Each position ranges from 1 to 3 days/week (FTE flexible).
  • Opportunities to combine roles with Fraser Health / Vancouver Coastal Health palliative care work.

📍 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care in ambulatory palliative care for cancer patients across the disease trajectory (including survivors).
  • Ensure continuity of care by coordinating with oncologists, community physicians, and home-based palliative care.
  • Engage in consultative services for BC Cancer teams and community care providers.
  • Participate in education for healthcare providers and the public about palliative/supportive oncology care.
  • Optional participation in research and teaching (protected research time may be provided).

📍 Qualifications

  • Full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • For CCFP applicants: Must hold a Certificate of Added Competency (CAC) in Palliative Care.
  • For Royal College applicants: Subspecialty accreditation in Palliative Medicine or equivalent experience.

📍 Preferred Candidate Qualities

  • Experience or strong interest in supportive oncology care.
  • Commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety, anti-racism, and reconciliation policies (e.g., TRC 2015, DRIPA 2019).
